Before and After Treatment
The 'before' pictures show patients' teeth and gums before either the hygienist or the dentist has treated them.
See some of our success stories:
These teeth are drifting and loose in this elderly person.
Behind the lower teeth there is a lot of build-up of plaque and calculus. The dentist recommended dentures but...

after seeing the hygienist for non-surgical therapy...
the lowers were fine once they were treated.
The dentist also made a bridge on the uppers.
Through maintaining this therapy, the patient has kept the teeth for more than 20 years.
This new patient was not satisfied with their teeth - they did not look too good and were very loose.
After the hygienist treated the patient to stabilise the gums and bone around the teeth, the dentist made some new crown and bridge work.
The patient benefited because the gums were healthy, the teeth bonded together to make them stronger, and so, were no longer loose.
With good oral hygiene, dental checks and maintenance hygiene therapy, the patient has been able to maintain their teeth for at least 20 years.
Bone Loss: 80% gone
(this patient smokes)
Further bone loss some years later. These teeth were expected to be lost but the teeth have remained in place by being splinted together.
This X-Ray shows many areas with bone loss up to 50% on some teeth.
Correct interdental cleaning needs to be explained.
This picture shows wear due to ‘scrubbing’ with ‘bottle’ type brushes that are too small. If of sufficient size and length, good plaque control is obtained by being used once in, once out and once a day. This prevents grazing the tissue and wear by over use.
The arrow shows where the end of the probe lies showing 11mm of pocket depth.
